Visiting the archive

The archives are available for research in the search room at Oxfordshire History Centre.

Further details on visiting the Oxfordshire History Centre can be found on their website. If you are unable to visit in person, do contact us.

We can supply further details and images of requested records. Our copying service can incur a charge.

Access to Confidential Material

Some of the archives are not open to the public for preservation or legislative reasons. The following examples of exemption can be made at the archivist’s discretion:

  • You are an NHS employee who is officially charged with carrying out the purposes for which the records were created and employed by the body with current or residual legal responsibility for the records in question.
  • You are a student wishing to research the archives for the purpose of academic research.
  • You are a direct relative of the records of an individual in question and can provide proof that the individual is now deceased.

Confidential material is highlighted in red in the catalogues of the Oxfordshire Health Archives. Please contact us for further guidance.
